About Artist

Anna Eckert

I am fascinated of brushstrokes and the unique moment of the creative process as well the possibility to make every day new art experiences. I am very happy that my artworks, full of life, waves and splashes, already found a home in many private collections around the world. I love to work with paper and prefer to use liquid acrylic paint, becouse of his own character its out of controll and allows imperfection and best results by accident. So I start with an idea but I never know what I get at the end. It is a kind of surprise. I find everywhere new inspiration but mostly during the work progress. With every brushstroke, with every new line I discover new opportunities and cant't wait to try them in my next project. I am Anna Eckert b. 1976 in Gorzów Wlkp./Poland. I live with husband and two children in Naumburg/Germany. 2003, after education as social scientist, I started to work as a full time artist

Subjugate Painting
Painting: Oil on Canvas. Hands are significant in dislocating the connection an audience would normally encounter with a traditional portrait.
The painting seeks to allow an audience to create their own narrative to the male and female subjects. What is happening? Why cover the eyes and mouth? What are their functions? I would hope the questions lead to other questions to create a scene or moment for the viewer.
This painting used Old Holland and Michael Harding professional oil paints. The ground is 10oz acrylic primed canvas with responsibly sourced 4.4cm deep stretcher bars.
